Don't worry, this post is not about you... I can never comprehend what is going on in your brain anymore...
Attended this course about how the brain learns by this Oxford Prof John Geake..
Implications and Applications of Educational Neuroscience for School Supervision and Curriculum... It's about what cognitive neuroscientific research has discovered about how our brains learn, remember, think intelligently and think creatively?
He says our brain functions through the selectively coordinated interconnectivity of a myriad of specialist functional modules and information processing systems.
There are basically two types of learning:
1) ONE SHOT AVERSIVE LEARNING (which is what you did to me!)
2) MULTI-TRIAL HEDONIC LEARNING- genetically disposed learning and formal instituitional learning (which is what I have been trying to do with you but failed miserably..)
Implications for teaching: changing mis-learning requires reinforcing new neuronal pathways with new repetitions..
He also debunk many myths abt learning:
1)We only use 10% of our brain ..not true since the brain process is highly interconnected..so I was wrong and many other ppl were all wrong to ask ppl to use their brain more..hahha
2)Ppl are divided into left and right brain ppl
3)VAK learning styles are good for students
4)Nothing such as multiple intelligence.. since brain is so connected...
5)Brain gym is good
Brain vasculature is bilateral and fractal.. exercise that increases bloodflow anwhere increase bloodflow everywhere..
But what is intersting is the BRAIN uses 25% of the body energy, which may be why I didn't become excessively fat in the past cos I am at least exercising 25% of my body...
Happy that I am motivated and gungho about work now... though was trying hard to fight of sleep bug since I went out with thad and chinsin on Sunday night..
Missya loads..
